Darren Coleman -- United Kingdom

Dr. Darren Coleman, a Ph.D. in brand marketing, has had a career that spans corporate and entrepreneurial start-ups, academia and consulting. 

He was part of the team that started one of Europe’s first mobile marketing companies, Saverfone, and while there he created one of the world’s first location-based mobile services.  He subsequently developed and implemented the mobile strategy for the UK’s largest Internet Service Provider, Freeserve (now branded Orange Home).  At Freeserve he up-sold content from fixed to mobile channels and pioneered event-based billing.  Later he moved to Freeserve’s parent company, the leading global mobile network Orange, where he led strategy and implementation in the UK of location-based services such as mapping and proximity searching.  He also was responsible for the development of multimedia messaging services strategy across eight countries for the Orange Group. 

Darren currently works with both New Markets and as the Managing Consultant of Wavelength Marketing, an agency focused on service-based marketing propositions.  He has advised companies and trained throughout Europe as well as Japan. 

Darren holds a first-class honors degree in business studies and an MA with Distinction from the University of Nottingham, as well as a Ph.D. in brand marketing from the University of Birmingham which focused on service brand development and performance.
