Steve Wunker is a top thinker and doer in the worlds of innovation and AI. After leading AI transformations for nearly 15 years, he’s written over 20 articles about AI advances for Forbes and recently co-authored the bestselling book “AI and the Octopus Organization” with the Futurist-in-Residence at Amazon.
Early in his career, Steve led the development of one of the world’s first smartphones in the late 1990s, then built several pioneering technology ventures in mobile marketing, commerce, and social networking. A long-time colleague of legendary Harvard Business School professor Clayton Christensen, who was responsible for popularizing concepts such as Disruptive Innovation and Jobs to be Done, Steve co-authored articles with Christensen and helped shape his landmark book The Innovator’s Prescription.
As the founder of New Markets Advisors, Steve has spent over 15 years advising leading companies—including Microsoft, the Mayo Clinic, and Meta—on innovation and AI. He focuses on how to seize new opportunities, rethink customer value, and build more innovative organizations. His award-winning books include Capturing New Markets, Jobs to Be Done, Costovation, The Innovative Leader, and AI and the Octopus Organization. He is also a Contributor for Forbes and has written over 100 articles for Harvard Business Review, The Financial Times, and other major outlets.
Steve’s work spans four continents and blends entrepreneurial experience, corporate advisory, and deep research into how organizations succeed amid uncertainty. He holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, a Master’s of Public Administration from Columbia University, and a BA from Princeton University.
