In developing a product roadmap for its Connected Vehicle (CV) business, Panasonic wanted to understand the various needs of U.S. Departments of Transportation (DOTs).
APPROACH
We conducted in-depth interviews with managers and executives from DOTs across the country and experts on connected mobility, identifying their most pressing concerns and priorities around adopting CV technology
Our findings were then grounded in secondary research on the CV ecosystem, including ongoing and past CV initiatives, competitive intelligence, and information on startups in the CV space
Insights drawn from this research were then synthesized into clear recommendations for Panasonic: what to build, which customers to target, whom to sell to, and how to accelerate the growth of Panasonic’s CV offerings
IMPACT
We uncovered the most common Jobs to be Done of state DOTs and used those findings to shape a game planfor Panasonic’s CV business. We identified value propositions and outlined sales strategies that were tailored to well-defined segments of Panasonics’ CV customer base.
